Sunday saw our Under 7s take on Colton Juniors in an early kick off at Batley Grammer School.

The boys were looking to put to bed the previous weeks result where they had a few players who were too poorly to play.

This game was an excellent one to watch, both teams created lots of chances, Colton looked bright and full of energy as they scored a couple of goals to take an early lead at the quarter break.

It was time to talk about positioning and the importance of a structured formation, in kids terms, they were asked why they thought they had conceded a few goals, which was met with answers of "'Cos they scored", we didn't save it" and my favourite "I'm watching Leeds play later"

After a quick 60 second discussion about defending positioning and rotating positions the Pinks looked much more of a team in the second half, scoring some great goals, none more than Stan the Man running down the wing and crossing for Joseph who had run the length of the pitch from defence to slot home at the far corner, the celebration however...... needs some work!

Colton scored again in the second half with a super goal as their players ran their socks off all game, but it was great to see Charlie turn into some sort of defensive monster like his life dependded on it and Nevan pulling off a super save in goal as they battled to the very end.

Every player played their part in a great spectacle for both sets of parents and we wish Colton Juniors and their fantastic coaches all the best for the remaineder of the season.
