Under 11s play in Spanish Tournament after Covid Postponement

Zoe Webb
- Our team were Fantastic from Start to Finish!

LS27 U11s had been entered for the Benidorm Cup 2022 however, due to Covid this was cancelled so we decided to create our own mini cup and play some local teams in Benidorm to gain some experience, develop our teamwork and improve our skill set as we where playing Spanish rules football

The "tournament" began on Friday 15th April where we played a friendly against La Nucia U11s at Cuidad Deportiva Camilo Cari. They were fantastic hosts. Both teams played amazingly well with some great passing and some well-timed tackles. We won the game 2-0 with an amazing goal from Ethan Langstaff and a wonder volley from Harrison Arundel. MOM was awarded to Harrison Arundel

The following day we had the pleasure of playing a mini tournament we played two matches at Ciudad Deportiva Jose Calista. We arrived bright and early at 9.30am however we were not due to play our first game until 10.50am. The first game was played between ATL Benidorm and ATL Jonense. This game was a really fast paced game and was great to watch, it was won by ATL Jonense. We were next up to play with our first game against ATL Benidorm (the team in blue). This game was played in very warm temperature but this did not stop the boys playing to their abilities. Two amazing goals were scored in quick succession from Joe Ashmore, with the final score being 2-0. The last game was a lot more fast paced with the opposition enjoying this style of play. We had some fantastic chances but nothing came to fruition and we lost to game 1-0. This meant that ATL Jonense won the tournament overall.

At the end of the game we were all presented with medals by the opponents and ATL Jonense were presented with their trophy.

At the end of the game we all returned to the hotel where awards were presented by Adam Langstaff and Phil Lamb. Each player was awarded a trophy for their amazing play during the tournament and extra awards were given for Man of the Match for each game, Parent's player of the tournament and Managers player of the tournament.

MOM 1 - Harrison Arundel
MOM 2 - Joe Ashmore
MOM 3 - Charlie Vaughan

Parent's Player of the Tournament - Jack Shann
Managers Player of the Tournament - Jack Lamb
