Farsley the visitors!

After an amazing season the LS27 FC Whites squad concluded their season with a division 4 home fixture vs Farsley Celtic. The Whites squad have excelled since moving into division 4, after starting the season in division 7, and were determined to finish the season well.

The Whites started really well with Arch playing a slick through ball which was finished well by Gustav. Farsley were playing great football against a Whites team that struggled to find any rhythm. Farsley deservedly got their goal their first half football deserved and the Whites frailties from set pieces were exposed again, as a near post corner was powered home. The scores were level at the break.

Despite starting the second half well, the set piece infirmities struck again, a deep corner from Farsley was powered home at the far post to leave the Whites with a real mountain to climb against an opposition growing in confidence.

Even when not at their best, the Whites squad have shown an ability to dig in. Whilst the squad struggled to make the ball stick, one thing that excelled in the second half was their work ethic, this was led admirably by Omar who never stopped pressing from the front and ably assisted by Ryan who got a real grip on the midfield area in the second half. As the Whites began to win more of the ball in midfield, Alex who had marshalled well won a strong challenge before releasing a wonderful ball into the right channel, Archie advance on the keeper before drilling home to draw the Pinks level.

The Whites squad rallied and the vocal voices became louder as the squad started to get a grip on the game. As Josh was lost to injury midway through the second half, Dylan stepped into defence to form a fantastic partnership with Oliver. Charlie had a number of saves to make, but he dealt with the opposition well. The Whites were exerting more pressure and this told when Omar found Ryan in the box who finished well to give the Whites the lead. Shortly after, Arch delivered a fine corner into the box, which was bundled home well by Ryan.

Farsley were resolute and grabbed a late goal to set for a nervy finish. However, the Whites squad showed a steely determination to grind out the result. The squad have had a fantastic season to progress 3 divisions and then finish the season in division 4 with an incredibly positive set of results.

MOTM this week was unanimous in favour of Omar. The way that he approached this game showed how Omar has developed as a player this season, he shows an incredible maturity to his game and leads the team from the front, pressing the opposition to make mistakes. His attitude all season has been fantastic and this is a very richly deserved MOTM award – well done Omar!
