LS27 Football Club are delighted to announce that from the 2026/27 season, Morley Bridge Street Football Club will become the Men's First Team at LS27 FC.
Morley Bridge Steet will become LS27 Football Club Men's First Team, taking the club name and club colours from next season, after successful meetings between the two clubs in recent weeks.
Morley Bridge Street FC were established in 1998, and current manager Dave Pickering was a founding member of the club, which has now been running successfully for over 25 years. Dave will continue his role as Men's First Team manager, and will lead the new LS27 FC Men's First Team as we head into our first season.
Morley Bridge Street FC, who will continue to wear white, yellow and blue for the remainder of the season boast 5 league titles, 3 league cups and 1 league trophy in their history. They currently sit 5th in the West Yorkshire Saturday Morning League, unbeaten with a record of 4 wins and 1 draw from 5 games. LS27 FC will continue this tradition in the Saturday Morning League from next season.
The news will have a huge impact at the club, with children from the age of 3 now having a direct pathway to first team football within the same football club. Children will be able to go and watch their own first team play on a weekend, with the ambition to one day break into the side.
Joe Pickering, who is the club secretary Morley Bridge Street, will be overseeing first team football, along with Charlie Sopp, who will be helping the transition, and future planning with Joe going forward.
The significance of having a pathway for the children is astronomical, and the benefits will be felt through the club and community of LS27. The club are working behind the scenes with a new committee to finalise more plans in the coming weeks and months that will move the club forward and into a new era.
Club Chairman Stephen Gaughan said he is "extremely excited" with the news, and is looking forward to seeing LS27 FC head into a new era.
Over the coming weeks, LS27 FC will be celebrating Morley Bridge Street FC via the club website and social media, taking you through ups and downs over the years that the club has been on.
Both Dave and Joe Pickering are very excited by the announcement and have already been looking at ways to improve and align with the club. Both have joined the LS27 FC committee with immediate effect as representatives of First Team affairs.
A huge moment in the history of LS27 Football Club.
