LS27 Football Club are delighted to announce that from the start of the 2026/27 season, the club will be entering a Men’s First Team into open age football for the first time.
The club, just 11 years old now boast over 200 youth players ranging from the age of 3 to 17, including both boys and an ever-growing girl’s section.
The club also entered a Veterans team into the West Riding Veterans league a year ago, finishing second in their first campaign.
The club are currently in talks with other local football clubs and the local authorities to confirm a venue ahead of the 26/27 season, as well as determining which league we will enter our first side into.
The new club committee, headed by Chairman Stephen Gaughen and Christopher Fan held a meeting recently with other new members, in which it was decided that the club would make this move.
This move is a significant step for the club, who are aiming to have a pathway for the many talented youth players in place by the start of next season. Currently players have nowhere to progress to from under 18’s, and this will mean the younger generation will have aspirations of making the First Team as they progress through the age groups. We are also looking at future plans for the club, aiming to grow our youth section in the coming years.
Head of Youth Football Development Charlie Sopp will be leading the appointment of a new manager and team to head up the First Team in the coming months.
This is an exciting opportunity for a coach, or coaching team to become involved with a rapidly growing football club in Morley. The hard work now begins to bring a squad together, as well as a coaching team.
If you are interested in becoming the new Head Coach or be part of the setup, coaching or playing, please contact Charlie on 07850341717 or email charliesopp@btinternet.com for more information.
